Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility 9.1.0.1012
Posted by Regeneration on January 14th, 2009, 05:17 AM

Intel Corporation has released a new build of the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility providing driver support for their motherboard chipsets for Windows operating systems. The Intel Chipset Device Software installs Windows INF files to the target system. These files outline to the operating system how to configure the Intel chipset function properly:

- Core PCI and ISAPNP Services
- PCIe Support
- IDE/ATA33/ATA66/ATA100 Storage Support
- SATA Storage Support
- USB Support
- Identification of Intel Chipset Components in the Device Manager

This software can be installed in three modes: Interactive, Silent and Unattended Preload. Interactive Mode requires user input during installation; Silent Mode and Unattended Preload do not. This software also offers a set of command line flags, which provide additional installation choices. The command line flags are not case sensitive. Refer to Section 4 for detailed descriptions of these flags.

You can download this file at our downloads section.

this is purely for Intel 5 series chipsets

Worked very well without any problems on my MSI P35 board under Windows 7.

on my X38 board it just went to finish without copying a single file

as zme-ul had stated it is only for the 5 series chipset.

Sounds like an update bug, if you install it on a fresh system - it will install.

or may be that the new files are only for series 5, the other series having the same files thus not needing upgrade

It went through the entire extraction and then a couple of minutes of installation on my system. It's a new installation of Windows 7 Beta. It did work for me. Took care of the SM BUS Device.

I did another clean install of Windows 7 Beta just a few hours ago and use this download a second time. Again, without a hitch.

as I said, I had the last year infupdate installed
this package doesn't contain new files for series 4,3 and lower, just for series 5
I understand it works for you but with a clean install; the setup doesn't overwrite same version of files

just run the installer with those commands :
setup.exe -OVERALL -OVERIDE
and it will update ALL INF files and storage drivers.

im having the same problem, it would be most helpful if you would kindly explain step by step how to do this as im not to savvy with this sort of thing, ive managed updating other drivers ok up until now, really fustrated with the intel chipset device software... many thanks ..!!

If you don't know how to use 'cmd': Create a shortcut to the installer, then to the end of the target of the shortcut add " -OVERALL -OVERIDE" including the space and excluding the quotes. (To create a shortcut, right-click-drag the installer to any blank desktop area and release, then click "create shortcuts here". To edit the target, right-click the shortcut, go to "Properties", then the "Shortcut" tab.)

If you do know how to use 'cmd' (you probably wouldn't need this but...): cd into the folder with the installer, then execute the setup file with the flags " -OVERALL -OVERIDE"

NB: I haven't actually done it yet here; hope it doesn't do anything insane...

It choked on updating SMBus drivers here; I had to run it with "-A" instead, and then manually install each .inf at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\InfInst" (right-click each .inf file and click "Install"), and then manually update drivers via Device Manager. (I have 64-bit XP Pro.)
