Need for Speed Undercover Quality Tweak
Posted by Regeneration on November 19th, 2008, 10:05 AM

After they took Red Alert 3 and made it into a kindergarten joke, The Electronics Arts corporate game-ruining-machine is advancing to ruin another anticipated title. After they bored us to tears with ProStreet, now it seems they messed up NFS Undercover's graphical engine and forced it to look bad - with broken Anti-aliasing support, horrible shadowing and some weird glitches.

The good news is… our very own SpectatorX found a way to improve the graphics a bit by increasing the Car Level of detail Level. All you have to do is to run the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA Games\Need for Speed Undercover and modify g_CarLodLevel DWORD to 2. You can also play around with some of the entries there, but watch out! The game is automatically resetting some of settings on launch.

In addition, to enable antialiasing you need to disable it from the game, rename the nfs.exe executable file and force it on driver-side by using Catalyst/ForceWare. We haven't tried it yet, but it should do the trick.

I havent seen a ferrari car in the NFS series for a long time, I think the last to have a ferrari was NFS 4.

yeah, I got HD4870 with 1 gig of ram (sys with 8 GB), and on highest settings, with full HD resolution: aliasing, white jagged borders, and shadows are awfull!
Quote
I cant see any registry entries there apart from 'g_RacingResolution'...

I've found the reg key location here on my system:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\EA GAMES\Need for Speed Undercover

most wanted was pretty decent, its the only one of the 'new' ones that i actually enjoyed

Spoken like a true fanatic that cannot see anyone being right but himself. Although I agree that the recent slew of NFS games seem to have been cookie-cutter games (with the exception of ProStreet, a gret game, but not a "NFS" type game), I do believe that some of the new ones had a few decent options that could improve the NFS line when combined.

couldnt you notice,
the title of the game says need for speed,

on what reason do you need for speed?
to get away from cops of course!
Quote
actually the original NFS had the cops chasing you
Quote
Yes, but it didn't make a fucking story of it.
Quote
is it possible to run it at 1280x800 ?
Quote
I found a way to run it in window mode instead of full screen..
Runs smoother in window mode for me..
EA should patch that game asap
If someone interested in window mode, extract 2 files to Need for Speed Undercover folder and run nfs.exe

full of crap. i will tell everyone i know its crap.

buy GRID. for pc. thats better quality.

The last good PC NFS game was underground 2.
Then before that was... HOT pursuit.

THen before that was NFS 3.

Most wanted was almost good but they had too much glitches. Same with Carbon same with Pro-Street.

Why do i own this crap. i hate crap.

THE STUPID THING IS I AM A FOOL I BOUGHT THIS GAME>

- Has anyone managed to successfully enable antialiasing by doing this? I have tried but can't seem to make it work. Could someone who has done it please clearly outline the steps to take to make it work? - thanks!

I just bought this game and i'm very disappointed in the graphics quality, it looks like complete sh*t. I was a big fan of NFS: Most Wanted but now i think this is the last EA game i will ever buy..

Where is my damn patch EA?????

This need for speed game is actually pretty good, the graphics are a 8 out of 10 for computer games at least to me, and there are less cops finally, wish there weren't any cops in the game and just be able to race more. Can get boring if you play too much.

At least the game is not like pro street, most wanted, and underground 2 which were horrible games at least to me.

thats because ferrari in the real world are assholes.

they decided that if anyone whant to put ferrari cars in a video game they have to be the best car. or else no ferrari. however pagani and lamborghini dosn't have a problem with that.

jaguar seems to be out of nfs games. being polite here: jaguar cars are fake aston martin cars.
XD
