Ubuntu 8.10 Beta

The Ubuntu developers are moving quickly to bring you the latest and greatest software the open source community has to offer. This is the Ubuntu 8.10 beta release, which brings a host of excellent new features. This is a beta release. Do not install it on production machines. The final stable version will be released on October 30th, 2008.

Ubuntu is a community developed operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. Whether you use it at home, at school or at work Ubuntu contains all the applications you'll ever need, from word processing and email applications, to web server software and programming tools. Ubuntu is and always will be free of charge. You do not pay any licensing fees. You can download, use and share Ubuntu with your friends, family, school or business for absolutely nothing.

ICH9 Southbridge? Wait for the final release, although any beta tester would have the foresight/wisdom to read the "known issues" before jumping in anyway.

Only Ubuntu beta releases are worthy of mention? What about the Fedora 10 beta? Suse beta? Linux Mint x64 beta? Or even that Debian 5 "Lenny" approaches a release.

Ubuntu is not the be all and end all to the Linux Distro world. Other distrobutions are worthy of as much mention as Canonical's release. Heh
