Nvidia Sued Over Faulty GPU Cover Up
Posted by Regeneration on September 12th, 2008, 12:56 AM

Nvidia is being sued on behalf of its shareholders for withholding information over faulty graphics chips. Nvidia admitted earlier this summer that it had a problem with faulty GPUs that had affected laptop manufacturers including Dell and HP. The lawsuit alleges that the company knew of the problem last year, but didn't disclose the issue to shareholders "in a series of false and misleading statements made to the investing public."

"The truth is that, at least as early as November 2007, Nvidia and the other defendants have known about these unprecedented failure rates as well as their 'root causes'," the lawsuit claims. "Nevertheless, for at least eight months, defendants concealed from Nvidia investors these defects and their obvious impact on the company's financial condition and future business prospects," it adds.

Speaking at its NVISION conference last month, an Nvidia spokesman said it had been prevented from coming clean over the scale of the problem by PC manufacturers. "The truth is," he explained, "our obligations to our partners limits what we can say. We need to leave announcements to our partners like Dell and HP.

"I know there's frustration, and it would make my job easier if I could give out the facts that I know, but we have obligations to our partners. We discuss it constantly, and the company would like to be more upfront about this - but we can't be."

lol you nv luvers are really blind huh? Why do you think nvidia didnt make this public? well for one it shows just how much they care about you, the reason these manufacturers didnt want this to be public is because they had all sorts of stock of these ready to ship and already in stores, having to pull them would have cost them millions, so instead of doing the honorable thing, this they wanted to quietly sell these shitty things to you fully knowing they will just burn out all whilist laughing in an evil manner and says "Yes, buy little sheepies buy", thats nv love for ya.

Yes that exacly what companies do , not only in PC market , its all about money not people , users , buyers , and if someone say "no company "XY" is not like that , they care" heh then he need to get real.

Think about all the faulty CARS pushed to marked , and then fixed with time. Bt Yes in PC marked is muth more larger , mosltly bcos is eazy to hide things here .

I write this becos this was not suprice in anyway to me . Why it shuld be ?? As someone say Nvidia is going down straith path from some time now.

If this issue affects me I win. If it doesn't I still win. That understandably puts me in the minority.
