Today, August 31st, 2008 marks the 13th anniversary of the storied Command & Conquer franchise, which has sold over 25 million copies to date. And to celebrate this milestone and this October's highly anticipated return to the world of Red Alert with Red Alert 3, we are giving away one of the original games that started it all, Command & Conquer Red Alert, for FREE.

Comrades, venture back to the original Command & Conquer game that twisted history as we know it upside down with an alternate war-torn universe unlike any other. Celebrate 13 years of Command & Conquer with us and download the original Red Alert right now for free! What better way to get set for Red Alert 3 then to play the original that started it all.

Red Alert is a good game , the first strategy game I played. 2nd was warcraft

but they never got a good network to run;
when i remember RA i always FIGHT with connection problems.
one time you see other computers, the next day you dont;
when you are ingame, suddenly someone drops (ON LAN!)
i really hope that this wont happen in the next release...

btw... reasing ra1 as freeware is a nice gimmik, but... hey, is it even playable on vista? - they should better release the sourcecode

ill grab that one
