NVIDIA PhysX Beta Driver for GT200/G92/G96 Cards Leaked
Posted by Chaos on August 5th, 2008, 08:14 PM

A new NVIDIA beta driver leaked today over the web space, enabling full PhysX support for all GeForce 9800 GTX, GeForce 9800 GTX+, GeForce GTX 260, GeForce GTX 280 and GeForce 9500 GT graphics cards. The download link for this driver is provided by our collegues over at Expreview. Download NVIDIA PhysX 8.07.18 driver from here. Also note that this release is considered a beta, use with caution and at your own risk. One final line before I finish, release 8.07.18 is also reported to work with GeForce 9600 GT and 8600 GT cards although they are not listed in the supported list.

Well funny thing is that i was able to selest the gpu , from the PhysX cp , with the old driver , after installing this one , again its grayed out .

PS. I dont give shit about all this , but why the 9500 is supproted , but not the 9600

I don't see why a 9500 would need physx support unless you could have one as a dedicated physx/cuda card by the side of your main video card, and even then...

I Play GRAW2 and UT3, but for UT3 do you also have to still install that Physx mod pack?

- I tried installing both PhysX software and UT3 Mod pack with my 9800's a few weeks ago after first uninstalling any previous Ageia software (i.e i made sure i did it the right way) and it messed everything up - just kept telling me I was missing some critical CUDA files. Then I had to re-install everything again in order the to get UT3 working properly which took ages

working here on g80

How did you get it working on g80??? Or do you have the 8600?? I thinks its unthinkable of Nvidia to release for an example drivers for the 9500, but not the far superior 8800gtx?? Are they stupid??? In my mind the 8800GTX is the best by far graphics card that has ever been built, I mean 2 years after launch and it still keeps up fairly well against all new cards??? (single gpu/pcb). And I think that if Nvidia just would learn somehting about coding drivers, and I have no doubt in my mind that the card would have even 1 quarter better in performance of its current state.

To get the best experience with UT3 take the following steps to reach your goal.

1. Install full version of UT3
2. Install UT3 Official patch ver 1.2
3. Install Nvidia 177.39 drivers
4. Uninstall AGEIA PhysX that installs with the game
5. install new Nvidia PhysX 8.07.18 drivers
6. Install PhysX UT3 Modpack
7. Copy PhysXCore.dll from C:\Program Files\AGEIA Technologies\v2.7.3 to
the binaries folder of your UT3 install folder and overwrite the older file
8. Run UT3 and enable Hardware Physics in the video settings
9. Turn off framerate smoothing in Advanced Video settings
10. Run one of the Physics mods

Whee! Got it working fine on my 8600GT under Vista 64 SP1. Can't get cellfactor to work though.

Is there any news about the Radeon CUDA wrapper?
I will try to take a cheap 8500GT next to my 4870 but it would not work because I have to extend my desktop to the Geforce PhysX card. (Which is nearly impossible with a mixed setup...)

why does it only work on UT3 with mod and not on ALL PhysiX games??
