ATi Catalyst 8.6 with Control Panel
Posted by Regeneration on June 18th, 2008, 11:44 PM

It seems that even after many years, some people still prefer the classic ATI control panel over the Catalyst Control Center. Due to massive amount of requests (mostly by some German dude), we have decided to incorporate the Control Panel into the newly released Catalyst 8.6. However, since ATI has discontinued the classic control panel long time ago, expect some reduced functionally with the latest features.

ATI/AMD have released a new build of their Catalyst software suite. This particular software suite updates both the AMD Display Driver, and the Catalyst Control Center. This unified driver has been further enhanced to provide the highest level of power, performance, and reliability. The AMD Catalyst software suite is the ultimate in performance and stability.

I get the vpu recovery too in any game. Windows runs fine, but games don't work. I uninstalled 8.5 first and everything worked before the update. I think I'll try reverting back to 8.5.

no mater what I do fresh install with sp3 do all updates it still crashes my system after a few mins of use I love CP because I only have 1gb of ram ddr 400mhz uses less resources then control center. I hope 8.7 fixes it I am assuming it causes my GPU to over heat it could be that I have a sapphire x1600xt as well probably time for a new computer all together next month quad core amd the newest Gygabyte 780g with sideport 1333mhz supported memory and 4870 Visiontek hehe I'm so excited I haven't upgraded since MSI x200 socket 939 series release that's what 3 yrs ago or 4. however this old machine still runs Crysis on low ha ha but most other games on higher settings.
