 Chicago, USA - April 1st, 2008 -- SteelSeries, a leading manufacturer of innovative professional gaming gear, today announced the acquisition of ClanBase, the world's most active online and gaming community site.The acquisition has been completed successfully, with ClanBase changing name to ClanBase Steel effective immediately and adapting to the color scheme and logo of SteelSeries.
It might not come as a surprise to many of ClanBase Steel's users after the close collaboration that ClanBase Steel and Steelseries has had for many seasons, as well as Steelseries dedication to the gaming scene. What for many has been seen as something only waiting to happen - SteelSeries has finally moved beyond peripherals and are now invading the actual computer and the online tournament community in a much more engaged way. The first step was seen with their SteelSecurity software and their action today really speaks for “going all in" in the virtual space.
More than 25.000 gamers play a match through ClanBase Steel every day. The matches are organized in established leagues and ladders, spanning a multitude of games and gaming platforms. In total more than 2 million gamers across Europe have registered accounts on ClanBase Steel.
