ATI Catalyst 8.3 Performance Analysis @ TT
Posted by Regeneration on March 11th, 2008, 03:08 PM

The first thing we did when we obtained the latest driver release from AMD was to test out the Crossfire X capabilities with a pair of HD 3870 X2 cards. With that out the way it’s time to test the latest driver in the typical fashion. We’ve got our relatively new test bed which is getting pretty accustomed to our graphics cards these days, along with our new and improved benchmark line-up to include more intensive games like Crysis.

i was using the 7 drivers too but since ive installed these ive gotten noticably smoother perofmence

In some of the higher end games i would get some lag sometimes and occasioanl lag spikes but now that all seems to be gone, they run totaly smooth

Works great for me with my 1900XT Pci,don't know if that's the best driver for my card but the best drivers for it since a long time

Every driver release was always better for me. The performance either stayed the same or went up a bit, but it never went down. Unlike when my dad had his 6600GT every time I updated the drivers the performance would go down. Typically N$hittya.

On the computer i'm using right now , the 8.3 drivers doesn't work at all with the Sapphire X1600 XT PCIe card in the machine.
They leave the desktop in 640x480 and 4bit color mode with a message saying the card is not supported.

I installed the Omega 7.12 drivers instead - They work fine.
