im Sorry guys, but i just cant let this go on anymore, IF ANY OF YOU ARE SMART, you will listen up. yer games are at stake. every way we used to do things are at stake, this is M$'s last chance to save itself, you all have NO idea how close M$ is to faling.

ok, let me explane. first. directx 10. was made to corner the direct x and opengl games into vista, to make all games from 08 and on to RUN VISTA AND NOTHING MORE, same with this live service, its free because its pc-pc, and thay want to get us on there band wagon, ok well force us.
IF we wanna play with you xbox guys, then we have to pay?? For what.. pay to have my ip connect to yers? BULL. fact is that xbox game is ON THE SAME PLATFORM AS MY PC! this is not cross platform at all, Pc-with linux. pc-mac games would be cross platform.

An xbox 360 COULD run on windows if it was not CODED TO NOT RUN. but it is, so there it is.

The hardware in yer xbox is the SAME as my pc. Thay call the SAME DIRECTX API FOR WINDOWS AND xbox630 os, THUS ITS THE SAME PLATFORM. MS just makes it check what os its on.. and HAS it fail.
Mutch like the vista only games that WOULD run on Xp. and so on.


So let me help you all out, in a major way. WINE... yes wine.
Wine is a direct win32 API, ie if it ran in win95 and up. it will run in linux. IT WILL RUN.

check this out, every onl;ine game i run. from doom to quake to you name it. its runs. a few bugs.. then i wait a month and it comes out, you wanna knwo why Ms put out Vista??

because of wine, nothing more nothing less.

in less than a year wine will have FULL FULL FULL directx 1 to 9 support. Wow, steam and the likes run on it already, in a flawless fps btw. infact with the relase of better nvidia drivers, i now get more fps in wine than in vista or xp. Oh And Thay Are Already Fast At Work On Directx 10 And 10.1 For Wine.

Then all of a sudden Ms is RELEASEING BETAS OF ITS FECKIN OS! to speed the release of it. and it didnt have half the stuff it was supposed to have in it, but the next os windows 7 or whatever will, Wow Go figure. next year we will get the true Vista. Wow ms. had to release a product(That forced directx 10 and screwed the OPEN standard api known as opengl) too soon because we where about to ditch yer sorry ass and os?? aaaaaw. NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS.

i have been a tech from age 8 to now. over 17 years, i went from dos 2 to 6.22 and so on. started from a 8086 and up. i know what im saying, Ms is SCARED SCARED SCARED of linux. vista was supposed to be this next os thay will release in 09.

vista was put out to force the gaming industry to STICK to windows, or dont run at all, oh and if you went the opengl route. then you got a % hit on yer fps becuase of opengl and the way ms f*cked it in vista.

nothing more, nothing less. go get unbuntu, install wine, use a program called envy. install yer ati or nvidia driver, and run yer games. free of charge.

btw if you have not tryed wine in the last 60 days, you know nothing about it or how it runs anymore. nuff said.

i get 160+fps in Eve online. i get 250+ in steam. and so on. better than windows. and smoother.

i have ran linux for the past year, and i have ran every game so far. so wtfh is yer problems?

wake up, buy vista or an xbox and live gold. so you can be forced to do it there way.

Get urself a cracked copy if you wanna play Games for WIndows LIVE games, or just boycott them completely..the choice is yours.

The more people who actually go out and buy them, the less choice we as PC gamers will eventually have.

I certainly won't ever buy any game new that i have to pay Microsoft to play - I will NEVER pay anyone, especially Microsoft, to play any game once i've already bought it - Why should I?

Microsoft gave me a free lifetime live subscription and entry into a $100,000 drawing to accept it. I only signed up to get into the drawing but would never pay to play and generally boycott Micr$haft products as much as possible as a rule. For almost 30 years I've been opening peoples eyes to micro$haft policies but It gets to the point where your just banging your head on a stone wall. People are inherently stupid.

I had decided a long time ago to not use xbox live for my xbox ,xbox 360 but use xlink kai instead... i am definately not dumb enough to use it in windows..... plz M$ is just a pathetic money grubbin' whore!!

Shame for M$, really. My dissatisfaction react against gold subscription and paying certain fees to play online.

Like someone said earlier - playing online on PC was always free! (well there are some exceptions like WoW, but it is worth it, I think

Plus If I don't make online account my saves in GFW Live! are always dissapearing when I restart system!

I'm never going to install GFW Live! until it will be free. Same goes to 'brilliant' Vista and DX 10.

as far as singing in to save your game thats for a local profile .you dont actually sign into windows live ( online to play it ) its the same as halo2 . i own both . but dont plan on playin them online bc of the fact i have to pay to play BITE ME .....

Just an FYI to you guys. Crysis Warhead doesn't use Games for Windows Live. It is a Games for Windows game, but it doesn't use Live. It uses the same old Gamespy system like Crysis did. That boxart was just a mock up, and it's been confirmed with Crytek in a few interviews that it will not be using Live.

I agree, I boycott this thing completely. Windows has done nothing but make mistake after mistake in the PC market, this would be a horrible move. I would officially start pirating games (I'm a legit customer at the moment) if this happened.

I wholeheartedly agree with this, seriously people are more likely to have pirated halo2 or whatever to get a copy that runs on xp. If it had been and xp release then more people might have bought it, it's like microsoft looking at its hands and saying "I have two hands, I'll cut this one off".

No need to be so skeptical. I logged onto Halo 2 just now and was able to browse all the online games without once getting any 'notice' about not having the Gold account any longer.
