Spire Cool Force 3 VGA Cooler Review @ XSR
Posted by Regeneration on January 9th, 2008, 05:48 PM

On the right card it might cool very well, but: It's compatibility list is misleading - bordering on false advertising - it doesn't fit properly on stated cards, it uses a rubber back that strips resistors from the PCB and it has a power cable that doesn't fit properly on anything but the 2pin connector found on very few cards that would require an aftermarket cooler. That said, don't buy the CoolForce, especially if you have an x1950 Pro.

Unfortunately due to the death of our test card, I was unable to get any temperature readings for this cooler.
Hahahahaha, poor guy.

Why did he publish this with no results or a replacement card ??

Was the damage caused by a defect on the cooler or clumsy installation ?

I suppose that if you look at the full review he didn't do anything wrong and was even very secure and watchful seeing he points out several weak points of the cooler.

I suppose Spire just deserves a review with a horrible end like this.

Possibly and welcome to NGOHQ.com

I always look for more information before coming to a conclusion although I did read the entire review and wasn't really impressed with this cooler or the review. So I guess its 6 of one or a half dozen of the other

Thanks for the welcome

I didn't intend to sound rude at all, sorry if it sounded like that.

I came here looking around for some information on the SLi patch and because I remember this place from a year or more ago ^.^

Also I have to admit to be an active member of the XSR forums and I therefor jumped in the defenses ^.^

EDIT: Out of curiosity, what made you think the review was lacking, or generally not too good?

No worries and you are most welcome ... on the review just inconclusive. Doesn't really show what "I" the reader should think. Was it the product or the installation of the reviewer thats all.

I tend to view things from other points of view or "another set of eyes" if you wish

Anyways, off to bed now, 'twas nice chatting a bit with you
