VIA Merges Chipset Division under CPU

VIA Technologies merged its PC chipset division under that of CPUs in the fourth quarter of last year. Going forward the division will mainly focus on supporting the company's own-brand CPU platforms and will slowly phase out of the third-party chipset market, according a Chinese-language Apply Daily report citing sources at the company. The company will still provide support from AMD platforms while continuing the support older Intel products that are not impacted by patent issues, the paper noted.

ive always been partial to the via chipset myself so im glad their going to continue supporting amd, because as much as i like their chipset their cpu's are useless to me lol as much as i want a 2ghz weak low power consuming computer id want a powerful energy hungry beast more lol

pfft, Via is gay, i stopped buying their crap ages ago when my nvidia card wouldn't work in AGP 8x because of their shitty AGP 3.5 controller.
