AMD CEO Speaks Out
Posted by Regeneration on December 6th, 2007, 12:52 AM

AMD CEO Hector Ruiz blamed the current stock price on a nervous market, terming the atmosphere "extremely pessimistic". "But I think things will have to settle down. That may take one or two quarters to occur," he added. Rajnish Arora, a research director for IDC, said the outlook on technology is beginning to sour because of the threat of a recession in the US, which usually hits the IT industry first.

Yes it is and from recent releases including the HD38xx series and the Phenom haven't helped the confidence of AMD / ATI customers no matter how loyal. This is something they need to address.

Also this ....

This also holds some truth and its a bit scary. As a Canadian and 40 years old I have not seen the Canadian Dollar worth more on exchange that the US Dollar since I was a kid. Usually the US Dollar comes in 10 to 30 percent higher on the world market that the Canadian Dollar ..........

I am beginning to doubt them as well. They lose to Nvidia and Intel but they lose twice.
I decided I was going to be a bit patriotic and buy ATI. They sold out anyways so Im thinking of going Nvida based on what really matters, performance. Im so fed up with my current driver situation. Right now I wish I had a new mobo, a Penryn, and 2 8800GTs.

We'll have to wait and see but that statement is definitely a quote of the month candidate for overall "coolness".

In general the 3800s are pretty fab, it's a shame ATI thought they were going to demolish the 8800GTS (which they would with the extremely lower price and power consumption).

Hector should resign and let someone with honesty and competitive spirit replace him.

On the dollar Unix its a hard truth and as I have said before someone has to pay for bombing rocks in Afghanistan and from the looks of it its going to be the children and younger generations of Americans. I think maybe they just should have dropped Bush instead of bombs on the first run may have saved a lot of heartache in the long run

On the quote about Hector I only have one thing to say on that after meeting the man 4 years ago ......

Chris Hook for CEO !!
