Interview with Nvidia's Roy Taylor @ DH
Posted by Regeneration on November 12th, 2007, 08:14 AM

A few years ago, "Driver Optimisations" were seen as a bad thing by the public, even when they sometimes weren't. Thankfully today most of that is forgotten and driver optimisations have become commonplace, frequently enhancing the gamer’s experience. Can you tell us what are the most common optimisations you employ, seeing how they are usually game dependant.

Interesting how his tone changed during the questions regarding the influence NV had over game developers and release times .... I sense a bit of defensiveness .. no ?

“DX9 vs. DX10 - The endless question"
To shed some light into one of the most discussed topics regarding Crysis multiplayer I would like to explain the differences between Crysis MP DX9 and DX10.
As for the DX9 version we won’t have physics and day and night cycle in-game. That means you won’t be able to shoot down trees and/or alter any other objects than vehicles on the map. Additionally the time of day setting doesn’t change dynamically. This is caused due to the tremendous server load such physics might cause on crowded gaming servers. Still you will be able to experience maps with different time of day settings since the maps can be altered in the Sandbox2 Editor.

WHAT BULLSHIT
DX10 isn't required for physics, this is just laziness on behalf of the developers. lazy mofo's.

He is clearly saying that everything is about money, and that Nvid pay game makers for them to optimize their game only for GForce -that we allready all know- and he is still proud of him.

And now I know for sure that I will never, ever buy anything with Nvidia tag on it.

Damned I'm pissed.

Damn you guys are paranoid. Sure there is a lot of money going around. And sure Crytek propably have gotten its share of bribe´s by you know who. But still, as he said, ppl who stay with XP are stuck in the past. Vista is the future. Sure DX10 isnt that great(yet), but Dx9 wasnt great either until dx9b-c. So quit youre whining, it´ll get better. If you expect miracles, you´ll get dissapointed for sure. Good interview.

B/S. DX10 has nothing to do with it. You don't need DX10 for such features!! Taylor is on his way to the PR dept, spreading non-sense.

yeah, maybe YOU should shut up and actually do some research on the great many things changed or removed from Vista that were in XP, ranging from hardware to simple file info features.
