Leadtek Retail Box: 8800 GT is faster than RV670 by 10-35%
Posted by Regeneration on November 8th, 2007, 05:58 PM

It seems that Leadtek knows better than no one does. According to Leadtek’s GeForce 8800 GT retail box, ATI’s upcoming RV670 is going to be slower then Nvidia’s GeForce 8800 GT by 10-35%. AMD is planning to launch the RV670 on 15th of November; we will have to wait until then to see the truth about the RV670.

Based on evidence it's generally faster than the RV670 for sure, nobody has ever claimed or implied otherwise. But that's quite backhanded, skewing the chart to make the difference look colossal. Also the RV670's cheapness forced nvidia to release the GT, otherwise they'd let more of the GTSes sell for a few more months.

you mean by the overheating capacities ?

logically why in the world would ati release a new card line that is inferior to an exisitng rival card? it would serve no purpose, im keeping my fingers crossed that it will smoke the 8800's in good measure.

Leadtek should be ashamed, thats some seriously dirty marketing

Actually the ati card is much cheaper to manufacture because of the superior fabrication, I would bet that there won't be any overheating fan stuck at 30% issues as with the GT and they're going to be priced much lower. Maybe the shortage of GTs is a good thing, buying time for ati's new series to be released. But remember it won't outperform the GT.

im gonna keep my figers crossed that it will

Perhaps NVidia will teach them to cheat at benchmarks too !!

hmm i dont think raw fps is the right stage for the g92 and the rv670 to battle though that would be nice but that shouldnt be the only platform. i for one choose the g92 for my own reasons but if the rv670 was out and kicking i sure would have thought much more bout buying this card.

p.s i must admit i am very pissed that i choose this card over a rv670 but seems like i lost this one...

hmm no coz i am and was hopping ATi would bounce back up by now and seems they havent done the gratest moves this year, which means thinks looks better on the paper for ATi then on the gaming court.

and by that i mean i would have loved having a HD3800 equal in price and perf to the 8800gt with the added bonus of nifty new gadgets under their hood.

hope i made my self just bit more clear HaZe

It sure isn't a good time to be an AMD Fanboi! Everything AMD/ATI seems to do lately is just second rate. They still want to price things like they are "#1", so I hope you die-hard AMD guys can afford to keep them afloat.

And me? Well sadly, even before this "news", I could see the writing on the wall, so to speak. I'll be slowly transitioning to Intel and Nvidia equipment. Due to "demand" it might cost a bit more... but "rats", like me, normally try to avoid "sinking ships".

Don't start another AMD/Intel debate.

i will buy an AMD Phenom X4 regardless of its performance against the C2D, i just hate intel enough to do it.

how ever, i hate ATI enough to never buy ATI.
why? because thier opengl support STILL SUCKS, and you can't use the ultra high Y resolution in the OGL2 plugin for EPSXE unless you have an nvidia card.

*hugs his FX* heh, i have better quality graphics then you G6 and G7 owners, only the G8 owners can dare to compare to the quality of my card.

When I considered an ATI card it was the card that put me off not some sort of fanatical preference for nvidia cards. In other words it's them, not me!

i would never base buyind a card on its opengl support which is just about never used anymore, its old tech, soon to be dead im sure

Opengl is used in all the BEST games, D3D is only used in some of the best games.

make a comparison on that.

havent seen opengl used in ages, and ive played it all
