|  | | Hardware Site Bans User for 8800 GT Complaint | 
US-based hardware site HardOCP seems to attract a lot of attention recently. The story began when a user posted a compliant about BFG’s GeForce 8800 GT on HardOCP and other hardware sites. The specific user claimed that BFG Tech Support mentioned possible defective batches of GeForce 8800 GT cards. The user has recommended avoiding BFG GeForce 8800GT in the next two weeks due to defective batch. You can view his full post here.
HardOCP’s Kyle Bennett has banned the complaining user and responded with following announcement: "This guy has been banned for starting malicious and damaging rumors pertaining to defective batches of 8800 GT with a specific company. This was an outright lie. Posting rumors is one thing, but posting lies about one company and then directing folks to another will get you banned here. Take this for what it is worth. We work hand in hand will all these video card companies and they are literally a phone call away, and yes, I do call them to verify things I read here. If you are lying, you are going to get banned.”
Apparently, you can attack other users personally on HardOCP. However, complaining about their sponsors is forbidden due to the great reliability. So far for neutral journalism and freedom-of-speech.

I was speaking out against Kyle for a derogatory (sp?) comment he made about Canadians. I also asked all fellow Canadians in the forums that participated in the folding@home project under the HardOCP team # to switch to a different team until Kyle apologized for the comment. He banned me from the forums and no matter what I said he answer was simply "this is my website and I can say what I want, blah blah free speech.". Funny that he banned somebody for speaking their mind and he used "free speech" as his defence. | | | | This place is only proving to everyone that they are infact sellouts and corrupt and that anything found on that site is most likley doctored information to benefit their sponsors, i hope everyone just stops going there.

HardOCP® is behaving rudely recently and it losing reliability like Tom’s Hardware. The press and hardware sites should put the consumer on their top priorities, not companies. If they prefer to ban some poor user just to kiss their sponsor butt, how should we trust them in reviews? If they don’t care about sacrificing their target audience, why would they care about it in their reviews?
I remember once when some people there flamed me personally, I emailed Kyle™ about it and he told me something about “freedom-of-speech”. What happened now? Where’s that “freedom-of-speech” now? Probably kissing BFG’s ass is more important than that.
If he told you: "this is my website and I can say what I want, blah blah free speech.", then you should tell him: “this is your BUSINESS site, and that means you have to comply the US laws, banning without justification is an serious US law violation and you’re going to hear from my lawyer about it.”

I just upgraded to 8800GT SLI on Thursday. Friday night, one card died and now i'm running one. The whole PC literally just shut down. Upon pulling everything out, I found it to be video card #1 the problem (i'm running on the EVGA 680i A1).
I'm now using a single KO GT by EVGA instead of two (while i RMA the first) and have found what I believe to be the issue - the AUTO FAN does not work. When you boot the PC the fan is high (unbearably) and once windows loads it drops off nice and quiet. Problem is, when going into 3d Games - it does NOT spin up. Having had one die, i've manually set the speed to high in ntune and its working a treat. Leaving it on auto results in a silent card - and a driver crash back to windows. I'm using Vista Ultimate 64 on EVGA 680i board, with the KO GT (was two). EVGA, you better do something quick, or your gonna have a shyteload of RMA on your hands. I'm tempted to RMA the second, I dont want to have to manually adjust to play a game the auto-to-manual fan speed. This should be common sense in this age? Comments please?
