Posted by Unixlord on October 24th, 2007, 02:17 PM

The Catalyst control center is vastly improved. Radeon X1950pro (PCI-E and AGP) users are generally satisfied.
Do not attempt to use this driver with compiz. There is a serious bug with compiz in conjunction this driver. Either use beryl, or the newer compiz-fusion. The problem is with compiz but the next release will include a workaround to fix this issue.
If you have the recently released ubuntu 7.10 you'll need to wait for 8.43 (hopefully not long) to add support for the newer kernel.

Hi, I have Ubunty Gutsy. I have installed 8.42 drivers, and so far had no problems with compiz-fusion. I registered to as why should I have waited for 8.43 drivers. Are there any incompatibilities with the current kernel ?? Can you please tell me which are they?? I really don't feel like uninstalling them, had some trouble configuring them, but they work quite good and fast. Should I uninstall ??
Thanks in advance.
