Well,u are very smart i think. I am SPEAKING about Problem of NGO driver, not about gpu. I ve tested it on GO 6600,7400,7600 and they ALL have problems whitch i said couple of posts ago! | | | | quake wars demo won't start for me either, this is Windows XP not vista just to be certain.
Tried a few other games, BF2142, Test Drive Unlimited, seem ok, but nothing especially better than the 163.69 WHQL.
One thign i did notice was that after install, and the usual reboot to take effect, Windows Explorer crashed, and i lost it altogether, used Windows+R typed explorer.exe and it came back, but response time in normal stuff (right clicking on desktop, right clicking on icons etc) was noticable slower, almost like being in vista (lol)
Re-installed 163.69 and quake wars loads fine again.
My system:
Athlon 64X2 4200 @ 2.7ghz
Corsair XMS2 1GB @ 900Mhz
Asus M2N-E mobo (non SLI)
Gainward 7900GS 256MB @ 660/810 (o/c using rivatuner, but above rings true whether overclocked or not)
only other peropherals are a generic c-media 8378 soundcard and an old hauppage 878 based tv tuner card. | | | | For all people having issues with Quake Wars, make sure to follow these steps:
1) Grab and install RivaTuner: RivaTuner
2) Open it, go to Customize -> OpenGL Settings in the Driver Settings tab
3) Rendering Quality -> Uncheck "Compress To DXT3"
4) Reboot.
That fixes the startup error for ET:QW. Have been running it just fine with these latest drivers. Sorry if this is common knowledge, just thought I'd post it to clear the issue up for any who haven't heard of it yet. | | |
