EA Terminating Multiplayer Support for 49 Titles

After Sierra recently shut down multiplayer support, it seems EA is following suit, as it announced that as of September 1st, 2007 (and a few others on Nov. 1st) it will terminate multiplayer support for 49 of its older titles, such as FIFA 06, Madden 06, NFS Underground/Most Wanted, NBA Live 06, and several others.

Its the principle that irks me, it just seems to be a rouse by EA to get, or rather force people to 'upgrade' to their yearly updates. I for one am no big fan of EA titles these days, but it does show a path the industry is likely to take as a whole.
