Even though there was mention of Mozilla dropping their email client, they have released a new version 2.0.0.6. I hope they let Thunderchicken survive, I prefer it to Outlook or Outlook Express

They didn't let mozilla suite die (it lives on as seamonkey) they certainly won't let thunderbird die. Open source projects are DIE HARD!

Yes yes the mozilla foundation can drop anything they like. Seamonkey is community maintained and it's already faster than firefox.
