Star Game Developer Says Ageia PhysX Has No Future
Posted by Regeneration on July 24th, 2007, 01:21 PM

Nearly in one and a half years after the release of the world’s first dedicated physics processing unit (PPU) by Ageia there are still no games that takes advantage of PhysX hardware. But in fact, the things may remain on the current level forever, as at least one leading developer of games does not believe that standalone PPUs have future.

Too expensive , i think if they wuld make it like one chip that can be added to GPU or i dunno mobo , maybe they that wold work , but as they say , with todays multi core CPUs , and this is the way it will move , stand alone card is no use.

The only happy part for guys who byed it , is the fact that U3.0 will make use of it . And since this engine will be used in many titles , thats only hope.

with Dual and Quad core CPU's in the mainstream market the need for a separate Physics card is almost non existant

No, CPU's aren't gonna be able to handle it (not more advanced physics like liquid and cloth physics, anyway), but GPU's will.

Ageia PhysX is like a sixth toe, you have no use for one. I said the same when it came out 1,5 years ago, and i still do.

the person who made the physics hack thinks otherwise.

CPU's can handle physics fine.
