NGO NVIDIA Optimized Driver v0.16218 Open Beta
Posted by Regeneration on July 7th, 2007, 11:50 PM

This weekend we are offering our readers the chance to try the 'drivers Nvidia doesn’t want you to have'. The main change in this set is that Nvidia ForceWare is no longer distributed inside the driver. The installer (1.3MB) automatically downloads ForceWare from Nvidia’s server (They are paying for the bandwidth) and converts it to our NGO NVIDIA Optimized Driver.

That means US sites can now mirror our drivers without taking any risks, and Nvidia will have to find another excuse for their legal threats. This action places us in an important strategic position against them. You see? Problem -> Solution. Use this driver at your own risk, and don't forget to submit bugs in this thread.

This whole Nivida mess is silly. It really sucks b/c I am losing respect for them at an alarming pace. It bites. I buy a brand new laptop with a GPU that should have some form of support...seeing is it calls itself an Nvidia GPU. Oh...but im stuck dealing with antiquated drivers from 2 years ago on my manufacturers site. whateva...

i've been to many "other" sites that have the same thing available. Only Rizzo (or whatever that Nvidia lawyers name is) didnt send them a letter.

I smell conspiracy.

I'm also hating this dominance and apparent disrespect of the enthusiast community by Communist Nvidia.

Oh and to smite them and spite them I'm downloading the beta versions.

much respect~

So if I run the installer I get a working NGO driver exe that I can distribute to other comps or does it only work for one PC at a time? (can't imagine redownloading)

One PC at this point, but your idea is not bad at all.

sweet REG very sweet and yeah it would be grate if that installer would have an option of using locally based forceCRAP driver insted of downloading it each time...

again grate idea love it and grate work..... kudosssss

Great idea, but i still dont like to use nvidia server they are slow (at least for me). This is not for Vista right? 162.18 drivers were released only for XP. Hope you take some money from nvidia (im expecting some good news if you ever sue nvidia), they will only learn something when their wallet is empty and their costumers are gone.

Thats some think we know General , its clear that it must be downloaded somewher and installed from ther .
The point is to just have it wher you downloaded the NGO installer.

PS. Is the installer delete the files after install ??

it stay as a back up in temp
you dont need ngo instaler because it is already modded
ngo installation saves all files there

wat is really funny is tat it said my computer couldn't establish a connection to us.download.nvidia.com =_=", which means I cant manager to download the driver, and fail the installation. well, I can still download the driver from Nvidia home page directly. So is there a way to solve this problem by using the NVIDIA driver which i downloaded myself?
