AMD drops former ATI HQ

After AMD took over ATI, bean counters begun to shave off surplus staff. Indeed, we heard of a lot of good people leaving the company. Not even top spinners were immune from the axe. Streamlining the operation, or cutting enough people to afford those hefty bonuses is par for the course. But, now it seems the whole, once proud HQ of ATI Technolgies in Markhamm, Ontario has been cut from AMD's plan.

To be expected. After the merge, AMD and ATI were in debt. Now with their low grasp in the CPU market, and their major fall in the GPU market (2900's are not selling all too well from what I heard) that this was a bad move for AMD. I mean, they are not goners, but they are indeed in financial trouble, and will take them quite some time to get back onto their feets.

Time will tell.

As sad as it is to say it, this is the kind of thing I expected would be the result of this merger/takeover of ATI by AMD. And, even more sadly, I don't think they've hit bottom yet.
