Overclocking the R600 @ DailyTech
Posted by Regeneration on April 25th, 2007, 12:59 PM

Anh beat me to R600 benchmarks by a few mere hours -- when you snooze, you lose at DailyTech. Needless to say, I feel somewhat compelled to add my benchmarks to the mix as well. The system I'm using is an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800, ASUS P5N32SLI-E with 2x2GB DDR2-800. My tests this morning used the Catalyst 8.361 RC4 driver. The card used was a Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB.

8800 won half life benchmark to say the truth i am glad that i bought 8800 gts. there are no big differences between them and probably 2900xt will be more expensive. and besides performance of 2900xt isn't impressive

Not very impressive benchmarks for the XT then - waited all this time for this?! The more I read, the more rumors I hear, the more I believe R600 is gonna be big disappointment.

512 bus! 320 stream! and still needs to be heavily OCed to get near a 8800 GTX.

Half-Life 2's Source engine is pretty much just a modified Quake 1/2 engine, and it uses a lot of ancient rendering techniques. It's not GPU intensive at all, except for the HDR.

The XT is the competitor to the GTS. The XTX will be the competitor to the GTX.

Indeed, but where is the XTX? By the time this arrives by all accounts the 8800 GTX will be celebrating its first birthday!

At the end of the day we can only go on whats available - and with that in mind nv win because they have a product to buy, whatever fanciful or eleborate benchmarks one can reference.
