| | | No Computex for Nvidia | No Nv-girls this year ;(
Nvidia has made the decision not to participate at Computex Taiwan 2007, according to sources at the company. However, it will maintain a small display room during the time. Earlier this year Nvidia chose not to participate at both CES, in the US, and CeBIT, in Germany, two of the three major international IT trade shows. The decision to also not participate at Computex could give the company's competitor AMD a chance to hit back, according to sources at Taiwan-based graphics card makers. Read More

Why? probably because Nvidia is treating them like shit. If you will be rude to people, no one will like you, or be your friend. You can’t treat people like shit and expect for them to like you. |

Trade shows aren't about fanboys and haters, supporters or critics, its about making additional contacts with old/new customers, the press etc. Various Nvidia partners will show off dozens of Nvidia-powered cards, as will AMD partners and so on and so forth. Nokia, Motorola, BenQ, Shuttle, Dell, Lenovo, Sony, Hewlett-Packard didn't attend CeBIT 2007 - does that automatically mean these companies, together with Nvidia are in some way evil/mean towards ther customers, partners and the press? Asustek and Gigabyte are rumored to be no-shows at CeBIT 2008. If that happens will anyone think that they are 'rude to people' and have been labeled like that by their customers? I leave you to draw a conclusion.

Most of these companies who are skipping it are companies with empty booths, like VIA. Last year Nvidia spent a lot of money on Computex (Actors, girls, three booths, suite, demo room, etc..). These companies are spending so much money to get attention, and these companies got shit because their stuff is bloody boring.
Nvidia and some others felt like this is just a waste of money because it does not pull enough attention. Nvidia is skipping this event because their money buys almost nothing. If they want to get more attention they need to offer something good in their demo room, and they need to be nice to these who are providing coverage - the press. I’ve been in VIA’s room last year and it sucked! They had boring stuff and no one came there to talk to me and to tell me stuff, so I left, like many other sites.
These companies are not getting enough attention because or their stuff is too boring, or they are being assholes to members of the press. Computex is the most press-covered event, press from all around the world is coming there to provide coverage on companies and products, and that’s why some companies are spending so much money there just to look good and to draw attention, and it’s totally waste of money if you’re not getting what you want, and renting booths is just getting more expensive every year. | | | | Nice marketing and PR once again ... can I say LAMERS
I think I can | | |
