7600GT vs. 8600GT - the GeForce 8600GT is a joke @ LH

Just like the GeForce 6600 GT and 7600 GT graphics cards, the new 8600 GT utilizes a 128-bit memory bus and comes configured with 256MB of memory. This is interesting as not a lot has changed here and despite featuring GDDR3 memory clocked at 2000MHz, the 8600 GT only boasts a memory bandwidth of 22.4GB/s, equal to that of the 7600 GT. Shockingly the core has been decreased from the 560MHz of the 7600 GT, to just 540MHz for the 8600 GT.

The 8600GT is too slow and the 8600GTS is too pricy. They need to drop 8600GTS's price by 50-70$.

A conclusion that's a little extreme but mostly true. I hope once AMD's mainstream offer is released we will see the 8600GT and 8600GTS at more decent prices ($129 and $159 maybe). The need for competition.

My advice would be forget about any 8600, and go for a 8800GTS320.

that depends on how much money you put into a card, i like my 8800GTS, but i am disappontied with the 8600GTS, it is a good thing my friend bought a 7600GT instead!!
