I just tried going to Vista with this motherboard and have had very limited success. Vista sees the RAID partitions and is able to partition, format and copy files to the RAID, but fails with a blue screen upon first reboot (since the BSOD reboots immediately, I haven't found a way to scrape the message out. If you install the Pre-install (F6) drivers from Gigabyte from USB, note that Vista thinks your RAID is disk 1 (as opposed to disk 0); this was fixed by installing from DVD with drivers, however, no luck either.
When I install on a single drive off the ICH8R in AHCI mode, the installation works without a hitch. Installing the non-F6 GSATA/JGOGO drivers then allows access to the RAID array. This is the only configuration I know that works somewhat; its eminently frustrating since XP/MCE had no problems with it. Am thinking of next trying the JMicron 1.17 drivers from their site in lieu of the Gigabyte later... either way, anyone have any success directly installing to the RAID array on the JMicron controller vs. single drives? (Vista 64-bit or 32-bit---I've tried both)
OH, final note, optical drive is sata on the ICH8R |
