Default Question For Kirill

Hey kirill,

i've got the same motherboard as you do, so i thought i would ask you about an issue( ) i have with my MSI P965 Neo-F motherboard.

When I read a disk (Music CD, DVD, or game, whatever), everything lags . It took me like an hour to install Far Cry (about 15 minutes on my previous ASUS P5AD2-E Premium board).

I do know that the Intel 965 chipset technicaly doesn't support IDE, and so for that they put a JMicron chip for IDE Compatibility. Is this why its slow or am I simply having an issue with my board (besides that, everything is excellent ) ?

If Anybody else can help, you are welcome.

I think I might have found the problem.

By default UDMA-66 support is deactivated on Windows. There is a very good program that I use called WinASO Registry Optimizer 2.80 that fixes some deactivated parameters on Windows, such as this one. I will only be able to try this next week, so any help would appreciated, especially from kirill, since he has got the same motherboard as me.

Well, like you said, I had installed the latest drivers and it still didn't fix the problem.

The "cd-lag" is really annoying especially when you are watching a DVD (I don<t care much about game install time) i get something like 10fps in the movie. But it's funny because it lags the sound as well. This is a typical dialog scene on this motherboard: AAAA-AAAA-OOOOOO-RRRRRR-CHRRHCHRHCHERHHCHRHCCHRHRE-IIIIII-MMMoooo-AAAHHHHH

Anyways, I will try the WinASO fix and will come back to you on that.

Also forgot to mention:

You said you have a DVD-ROM and a hard drive. I've got two OPTICAL drives on that channel. Removing one completely solved the problem. As soone as i plug a second device in there, (whether my burner or my old 15gb IDE) it lags on optical disc read.
