True. I'm just saying I've got a 6800GT AGP with the nV Silencer 3 Rev.5's on it. It's 40 degrees celcius outside right now, and my video card is at 46. That's it.

That is a great cooler, and the way it's designed you can't screw it up. If it's making contact with the gpu, then it will the ram.

Ive done a Driver Cleaner like 10 times for all nvidia involved. When i had the original stock heat sink with the 6800, it just happens when im in games, doesn't happen when im in desktop mode. I used SpeedFan to check my readings, and it got passed 50-60 degrees when playing games like (CoD2 and HoMM5). I thought it couldve been the heat being distributed, so i got the NV5 Silencer Rev 3, and it made the side of the card (the metal bit, quite hot), i dont know why i followed the instructions listed in the manual. Removed the stock heat sink and basically installed the Silencer, wasn't hard at all.

But when i tried starting up my computer, it would just get artifacts in the start up screen, then made my computer crash. I don't know what the problem is, as people have said it could probably be the memory clock, unfortunately.. since i took off the stock heat sink, my warranty is void . obviously my PSU is wayyy to low, which may have cause my graphics card to crash badly. So do u think it'll make much of a difference (getting rid of artifacts) if i get a better PSU with the Rev5? Or just wait till i get a new mobo with PCI-E and wait for DX10 to be released, hopefully not long..

it is looks like your GPU is broken.
do you use thermalkompaud when install new cooler? clean old thermal interface?

many 6800 cards die after 1 year using. if uoy have artifacts on load it could be crash on chip when instaling cooler.

Hmmm yeah when i boot the comp up it has those artifacts in columns.. i think your right could be the GPU or the memory is dodgy. I cleaned the GPU with a tissue carefully and applied the pads on the memories. ive tried everything with the silencer.

Im thinking of sticking away from nvidia after so many problems with it. It's so weird though, i mean at the momment my comp works with the Radeon 9600xt, just not the 6800.. i wonder if getting a new PSU makes a difference?

Just out of curiosity, would anyone know wat card would be compatible with my PSU currently, 450W 12V @ 16A? preferably radeon

for AGP take 7800gs.
same problem i saw when HSI bridge was broken. be carefull when install new cooling system.

x800xt good chose too? but i prefer nVidia.

another way is sell mobo and memory and buy Conroe with ddr2 800 and pci-e video

I heard from somewhere that the 7800GS takes less power consumption then the 6800GS is that true?

man, i'm not sure you have a graphic card problem. i'm running heroes 5 with a 5400 card and it works fine, maybe you downloaded it from a crappy position? i use the original and it works FINE

it's not the game man, it's the video card that's the problem.

7800gs is "cold" card. about 50watt need for it. better found some reviews of it.
