#1 | | Guest | MSI K8N Diamond Plus will not post Hello I was browsing the forum and it appears that the posters are very knowledgable regarding sli mobo's. I currently have the motherboard listed in the title of this post and it will not get passed testing memory. The only way I know it is a memory issue is do to the D-Bracket that has LED lights on it that display that issue. The current ram I am using is the Corsair XMS Pro 3500LL . I have two 1 GB sticks. I started out with slot 1 and slot 3 configuration as the manual stated. I also tried other configurations but received the same error. I went as far to even try one other stick of RAM. I am also going to test the Corsair RAM in a different machine to determine if that RAM is bad. I also have different types of RAM to test since not all RAM is compatible with that mobo. I have been searching every where for a solution but I haven't been able to find another issue similiar to mine that is why I decided to post here.
Thanks for any assistance it is much appreciated. More minds are always better than 1.

Have you tried to update your BIOS and to use another brand of DDR? Can you post your PC spec and take a entire picture of your motherboard? |

#3 | | Newbie | Hi,
If you can get into the bios screen, check the memory timings and set them manually, the last mobo i set up, the timings were set to auto and the bios picked stupid timings that my current memory wouldn't even entertain, it caused all sorts of problems with stability.
Try setting them fairly loose to begin with, you can always tighten the up later when you get the os installed.

#5 | | Guest | I am not able to get into bios at all. I have tried 1 stick didn't help. I tired a new ram module all together and still get the LED memory error. I spoke with MSI Technical support and they said I only need a 4 pin connector on the motherboard instead of an 8 pin. Little history on the mother board there is a 8 pin connector for 12v power that requires at least 4 pin connector. The manual states you should you an 8 pin connector and if you don't have one to get an adapter or else the system won't be stable. So I am little skeptical of MSI's tech support do to the contradiction but I will try whatever might work.
Since I am currently at work in a call center I am unable to test this at this time I was just hoping to get suggestion for when I am able to give it a true.

Welcome to NGOHQ and good luck solving your issue

#9 | | Guest | I will give you guys an update when I get the board back assuming newegg doesn't void the RMA since socket 939 heatsinks/fan were never meant to be removed once attached. At least that is how it appeared to me because that was the most difficult heatsink I have ever had to get off a motherboard.
