Default installin motherboard without formatting

my friend bought a new motherboard and he want to know how he can install it without format? is it possible??

I'm afraid the guide works only for upgrade from a HAL to the same or elder HAL.
See http://www.ngohq.com/showthread.php?t=2282 (november 6th, 2005).
It should be fine if Regen add a chapter about that issue. I will try today, hoping an emergency repear disk will help to preserve my installation through repear/reinstall.

in that case, uninstall the acpi completely, and then reboot. it'll install the new hal completely, asking for the windows cd if it needs a new driver.. which i doubt, becoz there is only 1 hal dll used for all hal operations

I didn't know that you can actually install a new motherboard without formatting.
I'm a little busy right now, but I'll surely read this guide as I would really like to know how to do it. It seems very useful/helpful.
