#1 | | Member | I really need help with M2A-VM Hello my friends. I have an Asus M2A-VM motherboard. Today I bought a new processor AMD Athlon X2 7750. Before replacing new CPU I updated BIOS version to the latest version. And there was nothing wrong.
Than I replaced my new CPU. But now when I try to start my computer it just stops. No vision on LCD and no sound. I press the button and all fans run but nothing happens. Once I could reach BIOS but then my PC just stunned. Doesn't allow to do something in BIOS. After a few minutes and a lot resets I recieved this message;
########## Warning: System BOOT Fail #########
Your system maybe OverClock fail or POST interrupted. Please reset you BIOS settings to defaults...
I never overclocked my CPU. Other components of my PC;
AMD Athlon X2 3600+ @ 1.9GHz (Old CPU)
Asus M2A-VM
Kingston 1GB DDR2 667MHz (2*512MB)
Unknow PSU 480W peak
ATI HD 3850
Seagate 320GB 7200.10 HDD SATA2
Samsung WriteMaster 20X Sata DVD-RW
I updated BIOS with Asus Updater under Windows.
Thanks a lot my friends... |

#3 | | Member | I didn't change any of settings before. But it seems I have to give a try.
Can it be because of my PSU? |

#6 | | Even Simpler | | CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 | | | GPU: Nvidia GF9400+9600M GT | | | M/B: Apple MacBookPro v5.1 | | | RAM: 2x2Gb Samsung/Mac DDR3 | | | PSU: 85w MagSafe External | | I used to own this motherboard with an AMD Athlon X2 6000+ CPU installed on it. Then later, I decided to upgrade to the Phenom 2 940 BE, because even if it is not technically supported by the board, I saw in some forums that people were able to make this combo work properly. Howeven, when I installed, by computer did exactly the same thing as you. The reson for this is that this motherboard has a HyperTransport 1.0 link only and that can't cause problems with certain CPUs with the K10 architechture. After I changed my motherboard to the M3A78-CM, I didn't have any problems at all and everything works awesome. Remember that the 7750 CPU is a Kuma core which is K10 architechture also. You might also want to check if it is on ASUS' official CPU support site for your motherboard, it can always help.

It's not like I do it every day, but every time I flashed a BIOS I did it like that. And it always worked.
Anyway, what are the options now? If the FDD is the primary boot device you can create a bootable floppy and flash from there.
