I will be getting this motherboard and this processor and I'd like to know what you guys think about it. Do they pair up nicely and feel free to make any other comments you want. This setup will be the start of a gaming rig.

What waste of money.

I suggest you get Intel E2200 and P43 mobo or even this better P45 mobo.

Same price, better performance a lot of headroom for overclocking.

Good choice. A word of advice though: even if the price tag on the ECS board is attractive, I would avoid it. I'm not saying it's not a good board, it's just that in the past I've had nothing but problems with ECS. I even trust ASrock more. If you want a really good board, you should look for Gigabyte\ASUS\MSI.

Do you have to get it now? If you're going the AMD way I think you should definitely wait for the AM3s to come out.

I don't have to get it right now, but I do want to stay under $150.00 for a mobo and processor. That black edition cpu has a very high overclocking range. I'm not sure, I may wait or pick other hardware.

Perhaps you should wait, I understand that the 5000+ is an excellent CPU, however I find it foolish to buy something that's already outdated.

Save up until you can afford an E5200 + EP45-UD3P.

I know, 4GHz has a special/magical feeling to it (like 3GHz had years ago).
There are also supposed to be E5300s but I can't find them anywhere.

Like I said, I do not want to spend all kinds of money. For the hardware I have listed in my original post, I will have no problem running any game out today, and that's what I'm looking for.

Along with this card, I will have no worries. http://www.compusa.com/applications/...845&CatId=1826

Not to mention I will always be able to upgrade to quad core at any time.

Well you will definitely notice a huge difference from your single core. Excellent choice of a GPU, still not trusting the ECS board, though. I find ASrock to still be just as cheap but I definitely trust them more than ECS.
