#1 | | Stuck in "April 1st" | | M/B: Asus Rampage Formula | | | RAM: G.Skill 2x2GB PI Black | | Which P45 Motherboard? The choices are as follows:
Asus P5Q Deluxe
Asus Maximus II Formula
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS5
Other (P45 DDR2 only) suggesions?
Please give answer with the best board in descending order. example: 1)Maximus II 2)P5Q dlx 3)DQ6 etc.
Note: I expect to be OCing the crap out of an E8400 with a dual fan hyper212 and Crossfire is not important.

than take dq6 it haves 12voltage regulators +12 solid state capacitors and that would give you enough stabilized power for overclocking

#4 | | Stuck in "April 1st" | | M/B: Asus Rampage Formula | | | RAM: G.Skill 2x2GB PI Black | | It appears Asus' 16 phase power regulation is a marketing trick (like their many others). It's got a switch that changes to 16 phase only during heavy load. With that out of the way it's EP45-DQ6 vs DS5. Can't find power regulation on the DS5 anywhere so it's probably 8 phase. If the DQ6 is doing 500fsb with ease that's more than enough for me (Don't really see the inner need to OC higher than 4GHz). I'm not happy about this, it costs a bunch more than the P5Q Deluxe, it better be worth the extra money...

you will see a disadvantage of EPU chip placed on asus board
and rest bullshit like crushing bios and many more
asus is only firm that sends mbos on market with beta bios |

Yea when I first got my m2n32 it took several bios updates to get everything the way I wanted. Seems asus bioses start out fast but a bit flakey while gigabyte boards start with lower performance stable and slowly gain performance with subsequent bios releases. Can't I get gigabyte's bios with asus' layout ?
But you have to admit 4 gigabit lans on a desktop motherboard is absolutely stupid.

#7 | | Stuck in "April 1st" | | M/B: Asus Rampage Formula | | | RAM: G.Skill 2x2GB PI Black | | Looks like the final will be this:
CPU: E8400
CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 + additional fan (push-pull)
Motherboard: GA-EP45-DQ6
RAM: 2GB OCZ Platinum (Don't need more and the gskill is going to another rig)
GPU, PSU, Case will stay the same and I'm adding a 500GB WD HDD to my 500+250+180 HDDs.

gigabyte on theirs Q6 mbos put best and fastest bios with tons of setups
it will blow your mind LOL
well they are preaty good and it cost less than asus mbos |

#9 | | Stuck in "April 1st" | | M/B: Asus Rampage Formula | | | RAM: G.Skill 2x2GB PI Black | | In this case the gigabyte board is around $100 more expensive, hasn't quite got the right layout, lacks esata on the rear panel unless a bracket is used and only has 2 chasis fan connectors. My m2n32 has 4 chasis fan connectors on the board and I'm using all 4 of them right now. Looks like I don't have a choice anyway, the asus boards I wanted have become unavailable with no ETA. Gigabyte wins, I hope it will be worth it.
