As i haven't yet overclocked my cpu, should I leave the memory speed as linked, unlinked or auto? ( is auto = linked? )
by the way, so you know, i'm also going to be asking for some advice on the best cpu settings for the overclock when i eventually get to that too - so don't be surprised! |
I leave my RAM Unlinked all the time. The settings that show up for you look within spec to me. I'm running my current 4x1 GB configuration at 4-4-4-12-2T. The 2T is for the Command Rate [CR] and my mobo won't let me change it to 1T...which is what I'd like to see it at. My RAM voltage is at 2.0 V [
Corrected from previous posting]. So, yours also looks to be within specs.
Didn't you say you installed Vista? If so, optimize that HDD for Performance. Open COMPUTER, right click the OS HD, select Properties at the bottom of the options, and follow the guide I'm posting below. Since this is a fresh installation, I wonder if the system is spending a lot of time trying to Index that drive. Not real sure, but possible.
That would, at least, explain the consistent HDD LED activity light flashing.
The setting I'm using is low risk for me since I have a UPS battery backup.
