Default Problems updating/reinstalling nForce3 MB drivers.

Hi, I have a DFI LanPartyUT nF3 250GB motherboard with an AMD Athlon64 cpu running WinXp. Because of problems with the Forceware Web Interface and the Forceware Network Access Manager I uninstalled all nVidia Forceware drivers and software using Add/Remove programs.

After rebooting and disabling my antivirus program (McAfee) I proceeded to install the "Nforce 11.16 Unified Remix Package" which went beautifully.Accept when it came to installing the ethernet drivers and the Forceware Network Access Manager software I got this error message--"The installed version of the software is not the same as the current setup. Please remove the previous version before installing this version."--the network install then aborted and setup finished installing the rest of the drivers.

So then I went back to Add/Remove Programs to see if I missed something but there's nothing there. I then ran the install again several times configured to only install the ethernet drivers and got the same result each time.

So then I decided to start fresh and removed all nVidia drivers/software using Add/Remove Programs- rebooted- searched my system for any and all nVidia files or folders and removed them- rebooted again- disabled the Antivirus- installed the remix- and got the same result with the same message!!

I don't get it- what the hell is the problem? What I ended up doing is using System Restore to bring my system back to where I started... with outdated MB drivers, a corrupt and unusable Network Access Manager and Web Interface, but at least WITH ethernet drivers and Web access. Please help..any advice or info would be greatly appreciated and Grass-Hopper would be most grateful. Thank you for your time.

Try to install it without the Network Access Manager. You don't really need this feature, its just a poor firewall.

thank you for your prompt responce. I tried that and the result is I don't have web access and when I run a diagnostic I get the message "your ethernet adapter is disabled" so I checked- device manager- network adapters and listed there are: "1394 Net Adapter" and "NVIDIA nForce networking controller" both of which state they are working properly. any other ideas? again, thank youn for your time.

if the network adapter is disabled go to Network Connections and right click you lan
if there is a Enable tag click it
if not ... elsewhere is the problem
