Solution or Suggestions? When, at bootup, a computer will only show the video adapter hardware ID, what does that indicate?
In other words, instead of going to POST, the screen simply puts up the ID of the video card in the upper left corner of the screen.
Changing video cards, the 'new' video card's ID gets put there and there's still no beeps nor any POST screen.
Is the motherboard dead?
In this particular situation, the RAM was pushed too much and the system initially would halt at the hardware initialization screen. It would detect the CPU, but not the RAM and it would not proceed to identify the HDDs and ODDs.
So, with the system unplugged, the CMOS battery was removed in order to clear CMOS.
BUT, the battery slipped and wedged against the chassis. Did this possibly send enough charge through the motherboard to kill it? (I think quite likely, myself.)
Any thoughts? Ideas to confirm the status of this motherboard?
