Cool NGO Creative driver for Audigy SE won't install the right driver on Vista.

Windows Vista Ultimate french
Athlon 64 3000+ on ASUS A8V Deluxe
1024MB RAM
Geforce 6800
Creative SB Audigy SE PCI

Hi everyone,

Everything was ok with the Creative driver v. 1.04.0065 untill I started getting choppy sound playing games and music. I tried reinstalling the driver many time and even tried to go back to v. 1.04.0055 BETA with no success. Could be the audio card driver, could be some Windows process or GOD knows what. So I wanted to give a shot at the NGO driver before investigating further, but it seems that Windows is blocking the installation of that driver. After installing the NGO driver, witch when flawlessly, I went back to the audio card driver properties and all was the same as before install. Normal? Should'nt I see different driver names or different driver versions? The card ir working OK but I dought that the driver has changed.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Best regards!

Sylvain

Well, I solve my choppy sound problem by enabling "Advanced Hard Drive Performances" in device manager. As soon as I disable it, the problem comes back.

Enable advanced hard drive performance in Windows Vista.

1. Open the Control Panel and double-click on System.

2. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

3. Click the plus sign next to Disk drives.

4. Right-click on the Disk drive for which you'd like to enable or disable advanced disc performance for and select Properties.

5. Click the Policies tab, select the Enable advanced performance check box to enable advanced disc performance, and then click OK. Uncheck it to disable advanced disc performance.
