"SPi (Creative X-Fi Module) has stopped working"

I upgraded to Vista the other day. I have SB Live! and so I downloaded the Creative Modded Driver and now my soundcard is fine.

However... upon the next reboot I started to get an error message saying "SPI(Creative X-Fi Module) has stopped working." I can't find any discussions of where this has happened to other people. Any ideas on why this is the case or how to fix it? I don't particularly want to get this dumb error message up everything I start my computer.

What I have learned about the Creative X-Fi Module is that it is a process that runs and that it has the filename CTxfiSPI.exe. I dunno if that will help anyone.

Also, my speakers seem to have some random static now. This might be a result of the Creative X-Fi Module problem. But, I just keep getting random spurts of static through my speakers and it make listening to music rather annoying.

Ideas?! Thanks!

If you're using Vista, you should use the onboard audio because the X-Fi drivers are horrible. For months I'm having BSODs without any information, and after the I replaced the X-FI with Realtek ALC, everything is stable now.

I had the same problem and I upgraded my creative SB audigy driver to 6.0.1.1241(2006). The problem went away.

I've never had any problems. Nevertheless muting microphone, line in and aux in volume control may help you.

It's been 7 months im using vista and never had problems with my X-FI XtremeMusic .

The only time I had trouble with a driver in Vista was when I upgraded the onboard graphics of my laptop.
