Today we had the opportunity to conduct an email interview with Robert
“Razerguy” Krakoff, Co-Founder and President of
Razer. Unlike other presidents, Robert is very active with the
community and can be seen at gaming events such as LAN Parties. Like
its president; the entire company is active in the gaming
community. They also provide sponsorships to professional
gamers and events. After all, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
So far Razer has been very successful getting their professional
game-based hardware to the market. Razer’s products
tend to receive high-scores in reviews and a lot of positive feedback
among both gamers and end-users. Razer’s success in the last
few years has received a lot of attention from others in the hardware
market. Microsoft’s hardware division even teamed up with
them to license some of its technologies. So today, we are going to
present Robert with some (intrusive) questions and figure out
what’s going on and what we should expect. Eran: Hi
Robert, First I’d like to thank you for your time and efforts
talking to me today. Secondly, Can you introduce yourself to our
readers? Robert: Hi
readers. My name is Robert Krakoff, but for years my friends have
called me Razerguy. It has actually become my nick. I co-founded Razer
back in 1997 and am currently the President. Eran: Can
you tell us what you do as Co. Founder and President? Robert: My
main duties are to represent Razer to the press and our loyal fans.
Mostly I want to know that our customers are happy with our products
and their experience with us is top notch throughout the life of a
Razer product. I want them to know what makes us special, why we make
the products that we make and to ensure that we are meeting their needs
as gamers. Eran: How
did you start Razer? Who came up with the idea? And where did it all
begin? Robert: We came upon a unique piece of technology that would greatly
improve the sensitivity, accuracy and precision in a mouse. We were all
gamers from the late 70s and early 80s and believed that most of all
gamers would benefit more from this technology than any other group. We
began as a mouse company hell bent on technology and after a few years
we expanded our innovative expertise to keyboards, headphones, speakers
and of course mousing surfaces.
