Antec is a name that has been highly regarded among computer
enthusiasts for quite some time now, but back in 1986; in Freemont
California, Antec was born. They quickly began climbing the
ranks of the computer components industry and now have a large
selection of Computer cases, Power Supplies, fans and lighting
solutions available for the masses.
Today the
Nine Hundred Case and the Antec Trio 650w Power Supply are
visiting our testing lab. These two items are usually sold
separately but for our review, we are going to combine the two since
they should offer a perfect fit for today’s enthusiast
computer market. Why you ask? Well with today’s
high speed, power sucking, personal computers; a case that claims to be
able to harness the hottest of systems and a 650w Power Supply with
triple 12 volt rails each boasting the ability to offer up 19 amps of
stable power; together should provide an excellent overall solution.
Here we have the enormous box that contained the Antec Nine Hundred
case. They covered the case in a large plastic bag to protect
the exterior surface from being damaged during shipping. They
also use two large Styrofoam pieces that are fitted to either end of the
case before packing it into the box for additional protection.
The front panel of the Nine Hundred is perforated to provide
exceptional air intake ability. There are nine full size drive
bays available for our hard drives, optical drives, or whatever else we
decide to use in our configuration. This should provide ample
installation and configuration options for the vast majority of people
that would be interested in this chassis. Behind the lower six
drive bays there are 2x120mm blue led fans to assist with the fresh air
intake needed to help keep our hard drives and other interior
components cool.
When we look at the rear panel of the Nine Hundred, the first thing
that we noticed was the placement of the power supply. In the
majority of cases the Power Supply is placed at the top but Antec chose
to place the Power Supply at the bottom. We have seen this
before when we looked at the Masstige case from Aerocool, back in
September of 2005. There are seven available expansion slots for
add on cards and there is 1x120mm blue led exhaust fan near the top of
the rear panel, right beside the I/O shield.
