CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600
GPU: Nvidia GF9400+9600M GT
M/B: Apple MacBookPro v5.1
RAM: 2x2Gb Samsung/Mac DDR3
PSU: 85w MagSafe External
Default Is this normal or is there a problem?

Hi everybody. My friend just bought a Sapphire X1900GT PCI-E video card for his PC. These are his specs:

Motherboard : ASUS A8M2N-LA
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 4200+
RAM: 2x1gb Hynix DDR2-533
HDD: Maxtor 250gb SATA - 16 mb Cache
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 470w
Sound : Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music
OS: Windows XP MCE

Now compare this to my config on the left. Yesterday we put his x1900Gt in my PC and we got like 250 PC Marks more than on his. I find this weird because he has got a much better system than me. Would anywone have a clue?

Only thing i can think of is that you got a much better PSU than he has. I have said it before, a solid power stream is almost the most important piece of hardware in youre pc. What kind of PSU does he have?? Maybe his parts cant get enough juice??

Which 3DMarks? 06? 05?

Does he have the AMD Dual Core Optimizer installed?

Were both machines set to PERFORMANCE for all the tests?

Is the RAM set similarly on both machines? RAM timing is very important. Are any of the machines set to 1T while another is set to 2T?

PSU is definitely another factor? What is the 12V Rail AMP rating between the PSUs?

How many times did you run the benchmark? At least 3 times each should be done to get a good overall average.

It was run on 3D mark 06. Both PC had same RAM settings. His thermaltake PSU ran 30A i think. Mine 35A.

The newest one was released just this past November. Make sure he has all the latest utilities installed.

I've actually had some people advise me to uninstall it as there have been reports that it was to blame for game crashes.

BTW, what were the scores you were getting?
