Question ATi X800XT driver combo - is it possible?

Hello ppl :w

I use to have the Radeon 9550GE, and with much joy, have used the Omega drivers. Now, I have the X800XT AIW and would like to use the same drivers again... Being an AIW with all those functions, I was wondering if it is possible to combine the ATi made drivers and Omega or NGO or any other type?

I hate the Catalyst Control Center cause it's slow to boot, menu look's like s*it, its to big, far less options then Omega and simply, I don't like it (comparing it to the Omega, but that's my and opinion!). Now, some of the ATi's software has to be instaled in order to be able to utilize the X800XT so:

1. I would like to install Omega drivers instead of the ATi's video drivers and Catalyst Control Center,

2. Next comes the ATi WDM I have to install in order to utilize the cards wast potential (already downloaded it from ati.com!),

3. And finally ATI Multimedia Software that does all the rest (like I know what )

Any1, please guide a total newbie through these murky "wather"

Respect _o_

Pretty much everyone who uses this site hates ccc as well mate you're not alone. As for combining the drivers i dont think its possible and in any case i REALLY wouldnt recommend it. So you use Omegas? they're pretty good but once you use the NGO optimised drivers you will see how much better they are than omegas...faster and more stable, i tried the latest Omega 6.9 drivers and wasnt very impressed. My best advice with ur X800XT: stop using Omegas and wait a little while for the new NGO drivers (coming soon hopefully, we are all standing by for them) until they come i would just use the standard ATI 6.11 drivers for now as they are actually very good with or without the cp, and with an XT you wont really have to overclock it either. The NGO drivers also come with ATI tray tools which is by far the best control panel for easy 3d settings and overclocking control, im sure you wont be disappointed.

Hello G-max,

Thank you very much 4 u r post _o_. Yes, I am using the 6.11 and it's ok so far, but as I said, the CCC is anoying Ok, I'll wait 4 the NGO and hope that I never have to use the ATi software again. Not to mention, that when it comes to movie reproduction... (switching the monitor to TV enabling everything necessary...)
Pfff, u can grow a beard! Beside that my girlfriend is not to much "PC bright" if I may say, so explaining to her what buttons to press, where to go, how to set it up...

Much respect m8!

Question Ooops, just to get it straight :D

G-max,

Regarding the NGO, when it comes out, I just have to download it and install, and all the features from my card will work? I don't have to "patch" something from ATi or something? I sure hope that this is the way it's going to be...

Respect,

when the drivers are finally ready all you will have to do is totally remove any previous drivers from your system and download and install the new NGO ones, when installing them they will give you certain options, choose the 256 ram installation option first of all because thats the amount of ram on your x800 and then check the boxes for the elements that you want installed, for example 1. ATI tray tools, 2. multi-res (refresh rate options) 3. WDM (additional media) drivers. thats about it ..then your done . now the only problem is we all still have to wait a little while... have fun mate
