Default wmv 9 acceleration with 7800 gs

hi
im new to this forum, i just bought this XFX 7800 gs xxx edition gfx card ......but when i play wmv hd videos like the nvidia purevideo available at nzone.....my cpu usage spikes up and fluctuates from 80-100 % ......and i thought that 7 series of cards are supposed to have hardware wmv hd acceleration.......i m using the 93.71 forceware driver

so is there anything i m doing wrong ......or is there any patches or mods or reg hacks that can enable the hardware acceleration.......

any help wud be highly appreciated ......plzzzz someone tell me that there is a way

I had same issues (I'm using 7800GS Leadtek) the problem is the drivers ... try official or NGO 92.91 PureVideo HD optimized drivers ... the 92.91 beta fixes a little the CPU usage ... now it drops to 60-70% using full 1080p HDTV wmv or ts or anything.

Some drivers in the past tryied to fix this issue and other issues related to TV-OUT DVD playing and other stuff ... seems from my point of view that 92.91 did really fix something....

PM for more info

is there no way , so that i can make the driver recognize my card differently...so that it will activate the wmv acceleration like in rest of the pcie series cards.....i tried to flash the cios with that of a 7800 gt pcie....but the driver recognizes the card as GS , must be hardware coded or something.....

flashing wasn't successful

if it was, it changes the device id for the card, and it would've been picked up as a 7800GT

after flashing the bios i again checked the current bios with nbitor .....ane the current bios is shown as a 7800 gt....but somehow the driver control panel as well as the device manager detected the card to be 7800gs.....even while bootup a dos window comes up showing 7800gt 256 mb bios version blah blah.....

i used the command ""nvflash.exe -5 -g mybios.rom"" and the flashing was shown as succesfull.......is there any way to get the cards device id other than the bios
