#4 | | Guest | Installed some really simple games that required DirectX 8. They would not load at all. Finally, one of them, Jewel of Atlantis, told me either I needed to update my video drivers or my card was too old. Since I was running nVidia drivers v81.85, I knew it wasn't an old driver problem.
I finally got smart and ran dxdiag. The card passed the test on DirectX 7, but bombed on DirectX 8. I contacted nVidia and they told me the gf2 MX400 does not support DirectX 8. I don't necessarily believe everything tech support people say, so here I am looking for help.

#6 | | Guest | MuleSkinner, I am not experienced with the requirements of Counter Strike Force, but I assume it requires DirectX 8.
Would it be possible to ask you friend what drivers he is using and what his BIOS version is?

#8 | | Guest | MuleSkinner, thanks for the tip on guru3d web site. I spent some time there and plan to spend some more. I am going to play around with some different drivers and see what happens. However, I am beginning to think this is more a card BIOS issue than a driver issue. There are several ways to get the card BIOS, but nVidia control panel is probably the easiest. I would appreciate it, if you can find out your friend's card BIOS version.
