Default Radeon 9800 PRO SE 128mb - old driver...

Hello everybody!

I´m new to this forum, so plz bare with me.

Im looking for the ultimate OLD MODDED ATI Radeon 9800 SE PRO 128mb driver.
I´ve been searching the net like crazy for an old driver that is optimized for openGL.
But unfortunately without luck.

My question is; Can someone help me find or direct me to the right place (hopefully I´m in the right place now) where I can find the best OLD MODDED ATI driver for my card.

I think that it must me a modded one, not an offical ATI.com one.

The game that I play seriously in only Counter strike. I play in a league where the guy with the best fps comes out as a winner (because of the decent skill, everyone is at the same level).

I´ve installed some crappy old modded ATI driver, but my fps drops when mutliple enemies and/or multiple stuff happens on the screen at the same time.

I have tweaked my Windows OS and my Counter strike game and config to get the most out of it. I´ve read the CS tweak guide posted in this forum also. Read some other CS tweak guides on the net, so all that I have done correctly.

The only thing missing is a GOOD old modded ATI driver so that I dont get those HUGE fps drops (from 100 to 50).

BTW: Last week I`ve tested a friends old Nvidia card (Geforcer TI 4600 128mb) and installed an old modded driver. The fps was much better althoug it dropped a bit, but it wasntt so bad (from 100 to 85)

Is there someone who can help me find an old modded ati driver. I´ve read that the new drivers support a long list of old and new cards, but they are optimized for the newer ones.

What I´m searching for is a driver that support and is optimized for openGL and only up to the Radeon 9800 series NOT beyond 9800. Because those must be the best drivers.

Correct me if I´m wrong though, this uis what I´ve read on the net.

Thank you all in andvance

Best regards

I have a file that I think is what you're looking for. It's from June, 2001.

I've attached it to this post. Check it out and let us know if it's the one you're looking for.

Thank you Dyre Straits!

When I doubleclick on the file is says that it wants to install itself into the C:\WINDOWS\system folder.

Is that correct or should I install it in another folder?

BTW: I am using the old omega driver Radeon Omega Drivers 2.6.83 (Catalyst 5.11)
Does this patch of yours work with the driver I´m using?

Another thing. Should I install it running Windows in safe mode?
Or does it work after only a reboot?

Last question: With wich driver (old or new) does this patch work best with (gets the most performance out of it).

Thanks in advance

This patch simply replaces the atiogl (ATI OpenGL) file which needs to go into the Windows/System folder. Just run it and let it do its thing.

It will work with any driver version because it only replaces the OpenGL driver.

Good luck and let us know how it works for you.
