Unhappy Artifacts and Flickering in SLI Inno3D 7600GST

Hi,

Anyone has had the same experience as I've had? I have already replaced both the cards from the manufacturer but the replacements I've got seem to be exhibiting the same problems either in single or SLI mode. 3dmark06 'Deep Freeze' Test will lock up in SLI mode or in single card mode will have extremely bad artifacting. Oblivion demonstrates artifacting after a few hours of gameplay.

I've tried different drivers under a clean install of WinXP but to no avail.

I'm running at stock settings for both cards as well as my motherboard with 'PEG Link' disabled.

I've also uprated the cooling on the cards and added ram sinks for better heat dissipation.

I'm running on the following configuration:

Asus A8N SLI Premuim (1302 bios)
AMD x2 3800+
2 x Inno3d 7600GST
4 x 1GB Transcend DDR400
Hercules Game Theater XP Soundcard
1 x Seagate 320GB SATA2
1 x WD 200GB SATA2
1x Maxtor Diamond Plus 9 200GB IDE
1 x IBM 80GB SATA
HEC 580W SLI ready PSU
WinXP Pro SP2
DirectX 9c
Forceware 91.47

Any help here would be great as this is greatly frustrating.

Cheers.

Maybe one of the cards is broken. Test them one both (one by one) and make sure that both cards are 100% working. Don't forget to keep an eye on the temps!

There's no point in having enhanced cooling solutions on your hardware if the air flow of your case is bad. Take out one of the cards as regeneration said, open the case, blow a fan at it and stress test it. Repeat for the other one or both now if you feel confident. If none of the problems occur buy a fresh trout and slap yourself for forgetting about airflow.

You install the newest driver ?!
You have Overclock on your CPU or GPU ?!
What is the temps of the cards ?!
Go to the bios to check the PCI frequency.

I doubt it is an overheating issue as the cards are running with the default clock speeds. The FSB of the mobo is also at stock speeds.

As for cooling, the casing has no less than 6 fans and this happens even with the panel off. So we can discount that.

The GPU temp at idle is around 45 degrees celsius and under load around 50-55 max.

I'm already using the latest official drivers 91.47. Tried the 91.48 and 84.21. Same issue occurs. Used driver cleaner pro to remove the drivers before changing drivers.

The cards I have were brand new replacements (not refurbished units) for the previous 2 I had which exhibited the same problems as I went down to the distributor to get them replaced.

Maybe you need 2 uptrage your bios.
Try that.
