#1 | | Advanced Newbie | | RAM: 4 x 2Gb Patriot DDRII | | CCC won't start Hi Everybody, I have a weird problem. The other day when I restarted my computer I got a message from the CCC saying that I didn't have the rights to change the settings in the CCC, please contact your admin. I thought this was strange but I was going to install the newest drivers so I didn't think much about it. So today I decided to install the newest (6.8) drivers and everything went find but now it won't let me start the CCC at all! I tried a uninstall and reinstall, I used the Driver Clean Pro to remove all ATI stuff and then another re-install and I even tried the "restart runtime" option. Nothing I do will allow me to start the CCC. Can anybody help me?
I am running Windows XP SP2, a ATI AIW 9800 pro on a Asus NF2 board, all drivers and software is up-to-date.
Thanks in advance. |

#2 | | Site Staff | * What about .NET Framework? Make sure you're using the latest version.
* Make sure your account belongs to the administrators group.
* Make sure that "DCOM Server Process Launcher" service is running.
* Make sure that "Windows Management Instrumentation" service is running.
* Make sure that "Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions" service is running.
* Make sure that "Windows Event Log" service is running.
* Try to uninstall ATi Tray Tools if you're using it.
If it's still not working, try this out:
1. Click Start > click Run > enter "cmd" > Click OK
2. Type "net stop winmgmt" and press enter
3. Using Windows Explorer, browse to %systemroot%\system32\wbem directory and delete the Repository directory. By default, the repository folder is located in the C:\Windows\system32\wbem directory.
4. In the Command Prompt window type "net start winmgmt" and press enter
5. Type "exit" in the Command Prompt window and press enter.

#6 | | Site Staff | Try to log as "Administrator". If it's not working, Uninstall > DriverCleaner > Reinstall again. |

Good luck!

#10 | | Advanced Newbie | | RAM: 4 x 2Gb Patriot DDRII | | Well I upgraded from my AIW 9800 pro AGP to a 1950XT PCI-E card (yes, I have both a AGP and a PCI-E 16x slot on my mobo) and I still could not open the CCC. I also upgraded my NIC to a dedicated card at the same time. When I was checking the WinXP firewall setting I notice that I could not bring up the Firewall setting but I was instead getting a WMI corrupt message. I check the system devices and it showed that the WMI was running but not responding to commands (as stated in a previous post this is one of the things that must be running for the CCC to work). I decided to try running the system file checker (start> run> Sfc /scannow) to see if I could fix the file. After I ran the file checker (took about 10 - 15 minutes on a dual core Athlon) the WMI started working and SO WAS CCC! It seems that even though the service was running in the Services Manager it was corrupt so the CCC could not run. Thanks for all the help everybody.
