#2 | | Guest | Yea! I have absolutely same problem with 9600xt 256mb. Does anybody has any clue?
I got another question: I play bf2 aswell and all my settings are at low(just few of them are at medium) and sometimes on map like karkand when i am starting shooting, the ground goes black and when i stop shooting everything is fine again. I really want a good answer!
Thanks, Foxxx | |

#3 | | Site Staff | The smoke in Counter-Strike uses some OpenGL techniques that being optimized to Nvidia’s hardware. ATi’s hardware can still handle it but with larger penalty then Nvidia. However, the penalty is not that bad because FPS above 60 is still playable. But you may feel some “slowdown” because of the large slowdown from 100 to 60 FPS. There are a few workarounds:
* Reduce smoke quality from the options/config.
* Use 16-bit and low resolutions without AA/AF.
* Limit your FPS to 60.
* Check our CS tweaking guide here
* Use X1000 series (they are handling OpenGL better due to a new memory controller).
Good luck!

Yes I have, right now I have DHzer0point driver installed, but i really enjoyed playing bf2 with NGO optimized driver. It's kind of annoying when you are shooting at somebody ground is black and person gets invisible. I had more fps and almost no lagg with NGO driver but .. | |
