Thumbs down Issues with my 6600GT

Hi!
I'm new to these boards and decided to register when I saw how helpfull the members were

Anyhow, I have some annoying issues with my Leadtek 6600GT, PCIE at 128 mb.
I downloaded the latest (at least that's what I think it is?) ForceWare driver, 81.85 and hey, it worked great...until I tried to play some games. I tried playing Battlefield 2 and the artifacts seemed to have infested the place, not playable at all.

So I decided to move backwards, I downloaded the 77.72 driver, NGO-version from this site. Well, the artifacts were gone, thank God..but Battlefield 2 had turned into a stutterfest and I don't recall it stuttering this much with the newer driver.
What am I doing wrong?
I've also attempted to use 81.84, modified..think I got it from guru3d or something...the artifacts were there again.
Please help, I'm desperate, I need my dose!

if your fortunate (which i wasnt) you can right click the desktop, hit properties, hit settings, hit advanced, hit geforce 6600GT, and on the left should be a tab called temperature settings... if not, your as unfortunate as i, and if you feel confident enough, you can do this:

Alright.
Well you tried and that's what matters, thanks, really appreciated

oh btw, didn't realize that NVidia had shipped a new driver, 81.87, could be worth a try. But I read the release notes, didn't really see anything related to my issue

I have downloaded the 81.85 for 6600GT PCI-E 128Mb and sow some black lines and strips periodically blinking on screen like in very old black-wite films. It is occurs in only one place in DOOM3 ( to now i haven't seen it anythere alse). I got back the 77.72 but it didn't change the situation, then i set the 78.01 but it also didn't help. There is another issue, then i move to the side the imadge on the screen moves not smoothly but falteringly and the lines of objects became blurred (in DOOM3 mostly). I have listined that it may be the phisical defect of videoadapter. How can i find out that's the matter?
